The virtual hard disk is a file that serves as storage media for a virtual machine, differing from a physical hard disk. P2V (physical to virtual) conversion can assist in this process.
The P2V function in Qiling Backup creates a new virtual machine by converting a physical machine's data into a virtual environment, saving time and effort.
1. Launch Qiling Backup and click "Tools" -> "P2V Recovery".
2. The disk and partition backup image file to convert was selected. Now, the user needs to select the disk and partition backup image file to convert.
3. To create a virtual machine, select a name for it and choose the virtual software vendor, either VMware or Virtual PC. Then, click Browse to specify the location where the image file will be saved.
4. Click "Proceed".
To create a virtual machine from a physical disk in VMware, you will need to follow these steps:
1. Connect the physical disk to the computer on which you will be running VMware. This will allow VMware to recognize the disk and make it available for use in your virtual machine.
2. Launch the VMware product.
3. Select "Create a new virtual machine."
4. Follow the prompts to create a new virtual machine, selecting "Use an existing virtual disk" and choosing the physical disk you connected in step 1.
5. Complete the wizard and start the new virtual machine. You should now be able to use the physical disk as a virtual machine in VMware.
You can follow the steps to create a VMDK file:
1. Right-click on the disk in VMware and select "Create New Virtual Disk."
2. Choose the size of the disk and select "Store with virtual machine" in one paragraph shortly.
3. Click "Finish" to create the VMDK file.
4. Right-click on the newly created VMDK file and select "Add to Library."
5. Select the library where you want to store the VMDK file and click "Add."
You should now have a VMDK file that can be used to create a virtual machine in VMware, allowing you to run a virtualized version of your system.
