The backup operation generally refers to creating copies of important data. With these additional copies, you can recover your data after an unexpected computer disaster. Therefore, the main purpose of backup can be summarized as an effective remedy for system failure or data loss.
Compared with Clone
Backup will compress all selected data into one FVD image file after the backup process, while Clone copies all selected data to another location. Clone is exceptionally useful when an older smaller hard disk needs to be replaced with a newer larger one. If you simply want to create some archived copies, backup would be the better choice.
Note:
In order to ensure a rapid and successful backup process, close all other applications before starting the operation, and never try to save the image file to the partition which you are intending to image.
