Disk clone
Make a duplicate of the chosen hard disk or partition. This result in an identical hard disk or partition generated instead of having an image file after the operation. With this feature, you can use the hard disk you cloned directly.
1. Click 'Disk/partition clone' from the Tools and utilities tab to start the wizard.
2. Select the source disk or partition.
- Select the source disk or partition.
- Sector by sector clone - Checking sector by sector clone option will clone the contents sector by sector. To learn more, see Sector by sector clone.
- Use VSS - Checking Use VSS option. VSS is a backup technique which is provided by Microsoft. It allows the program to back up data without interrupting operations in progress. If you don't use VSS, the program will automatically use its built-in technique.
3. Select the target disk or partition.
4. Determine the location and capacity of the target partition after the recovery. If there is some free space adjacent to this partition, you can move it or resize it by simply dragging with your mouse.
- Optimize for SSD - If the destination disk is SSD, check this option will ensure sector alignment in the process.
- Set active - This function can only work for the Primary Partitions in the hard disk with MBR mode partitions. Only one primary partition can be set as active among all the primary partitions in the hard disk. The computer can only boot from the main partition that is set active.
5. Click Proceed to start clone. The clone process will be shown in the window.
Note:
The disk/partition cannot be resized if you choose to clone your disk in the Sector by sector mode.
